Esmeralda smiled gently and interlaced her fingers with Lonnie's, "I don't think I could ever call you a monster, Lonnie."

Lonnie smiled and clasped the girls hand within her own. "Thank you" she said, turning slightly to face Esmeralda on the bed, locking eyes with her.

Esmeralda kept eye contact with Lonnie as she gently squeezed her hand, "...and I don't have to go anywhere, if you want me to stay."

Lonnie paused, contemplating what to say. She wasn't exactly good at expressing her feelings... "I..." she started, trailing off "I-I mean it would be cool if you wanted to stay... but if you don't want to stay... you don't have to" she said awkwardly.

Esmeralda grinned, "It's up to you whether or not you're comfortable with it. This is your place, after all... but I definitely wouldn't mind staying."

Lonnie bit her lip and looked at the ceiling again, blushing slightly. She locked her fingers behind her head and said "W-well I mean... what I am trying to say is... would you? Stay, I mean, would you... stay?" she closed her eyes and braced herself for the response.

Esmeralda reached over and gently pulled Lonnie against her before she nodded, "Yes, I will stay." She leaned down and lightly kissed Lonnie's neck, "for as long as you can stand me to stay."

Lonnie blushed and wrapped her arms around Esmeralda, pulling her closer in a warm embrace "Thank you" was all she could manage to say at first "...that you for saying yes" despite her best efforts to stop them, tears started to form in her eyes.

Esmeralda gently stroked Lonnie's hair and cooed softly in her ear, "If there's anything you need, let me know. You can tell me... I'll listen if you want me to listen and I'll hold you if you don't feel comfortable talking."

Lonnie nestled in close to Esmeralda, hiding her face "It's Sam" she finally croaked out "My ex-girlfriend her name... was Sam" Sam's name felt like bile as it came out of her mouth. She hadn't verbally said Sam's name in ages and it felt so... sad. "Sam she... She died last spring... we were living together and we were happy but... she was taken from me and now you and I..." she trailed off, pausing for a moment "I don't want you to be taken from me too.. I am scared that you will leave me too". This was certainly the first time she had talked about her feelings since before Sam died and she just felt so venerable.

Esmeralda hugged Lonnie closer to her, "I won't leave you if I can help it. I can't make foolish promises that nothing like that will ever happen to me, but I can promise you that I will try my hardest not to hurt you. I know I certainly don't want to leave, that's for damn sure... Do you want us to be exclusive to each other? Because I would be happy to enter a more serious relationship with you if you want. However, if you're not ready for something so serious just yet that's OK too. I can be a very patient woman."

Lonnie paused, what did she want? She wasn't even sure of the answer to that question, not yet anyway. Sam was still so fresh on her mind... she had never even though of finding someone new but then... someone new found her. "I want..." she started "I just want to be like this with you... I want to hold and be held by you.. I want to spend my nights cuddling with you on the couch and sleeping with you in this bed.. that is what I want" she blushed, feeling helplessly embarrassed by her own emotions.

Lonnie nodded her head softly in agreement and closed her eyes, taking in the warmth Esmeralda was giving off. Eventually she started to drift into a sleepy daze and nodded off to sleep.
