Squall hurried into her room. He took a deep breath when he did seeing as he had practically sprinted to get back to her.

Esmeralda couldn't stop the relieved smile that crossed her face at the sight of him. She didn't notice her fist finally unclenching and her breathing slowing to a calmer pace as well.

Esmeralda took it from him and opened the book, slowly making her way through the first page before looking up at him, "Why is it always white women who are the 'fairest in the land'?" she mused, a bit bitterly.

Esmeralda nodded and grimaced, "Sounds familiar." She couldn't help remembering Fleur de Lys and the woman's taunts, but she shook her head and moved on, continuing to make her way through the book.
