Esmeralda glared up at Blackbeard, "Let him go, or she dies," she said with her finger applying pressure to the trigger.
Jamie calmly slipped her hand into her belt, where she kept her knife, ready for any opening she was given.

"Don't care what happens to her." Blackbeard replied.
Squall growled in agony as his arm was broken again, this time in a different spot.

Esmeralda swiftly brought the butt of her gun to the side of Jamie's head, knocking her unconscious as she fired at Blackbeard, aiming for his heart, but being careful not to hit Squall.

Squall was thrown at Esmeralda. He barely managed to roll out of the way. He winced when his arm hit the ground.

Esmeralda quickly ran over to Squall, but kept a wary eye on Blackbeard, her gun aimed and ready as she positioned herself protectively between him and Squall.

"Esmeralda, the boy, get the boy out of here!" Squall grunted lowly. He got back to his feet and lifted his sword with his other hand. "Go!"

Esmeralda grabbed the boy away from Jamie before turning back and aiming her gun at Blackbeard once more, "Squall, you're coming with me," she said lowly, her tone final. She wasn't leaving him behind.

Esmeralda nodded and led the way out of the alley, not once turning her back to Blackbeard until they'd left him behind. She then turned to Squall, "How bad is it?" she asked softly, glancing at his arm.

Blackbeard lumbered out of the alley behind them , not at all worried when people ran and screamed. "Esme, get the kid to the hospital." Squall said.

Esmeralda nodded and shifted the child into a better position before firing once more at Blackbeard, before looking at Squall in concern, "I'll be back to get you."

"Don't come back." He told her firmly. "Just get out of here!" He took a running start at Blackbeard, swinging his sword again. The pirate laughed. He enjoyed breaking the spirited ones.

Esmeralda ran with the child, making her way to the hospital as quickly as she could, ignoring Squall's orders and fully planning on returning.
Jamie finally shook her head as she got up and contacted her subordinates, "We have a minor setback," she said before describing Squall's and Esmeralda's appearances to them, "Bring them both to me, alive," she emphasized. She wanted to kill them slowly, make them regret they ever crossed her path.
