Ace was still on the deck when the bomb blew. But since he was a fire Devil Fruit user the flames didn't just him. His fire actually smothered the explosion but the deck was still burning when he was done. Half of the hull had been blown away too.

Ace swore quietly to himself. He took off running towards the edge of the ship that was the highest ground. He grabbed the back end and tried to pull it back downwards, or get it so that the hole was facing upwards. They weren't done looting just yet. While goods were currently falling out of the gaping hole he thought he saw something in the captain's quarters.

Ace shook his head. He slipped into the Captain's quarters on the ship. He found exactly what he feared it was - a devil fruit. He snatched it up and ran back out onto the deck. The ship was getting closer to the water and like the Hammer he was he would sink along with it. He took a deep breath and jumped. Before he hit the water fire surrounded him and he flew over to his own little ship. Sighing in relief when he barely landed. The Devil Fruit was cradled in his arms.

"Devil Fruit." Ace said. "You know how I control fire right? Well this can do something similar. These things sell for a killing or you can eat it yourself and get powers." He looked down at it. It didn't look like any fruit he had seen which was a good sign. No one he knew was dead.

Ace smiled wearily as he sat down on the deck of the ship. "They're power." Ace said. "I ate the Flame Flame fruit. Now I control fire. Except since I ate it if I touch water I turn into a Hammer. I can't swim. The ocean will try to drown me."

"Possibly. Some of them are rather pointless. I know one guy who can only turn into a dog thanks to his." Ace said. "What's the point of a dog who can't swim? Not really good for hunting or anything."
