"Nibelheim," Tifa said. "I've never heard of Paris before."

Esmeralda smiled, "Well then, we're even, as I've never heard of ...Nibelheim? I hope I'm pronouncing it right."

"Hmm..." Tifa hummed as she started to wash the dishes. "Well, tell me about it. Paris I mean."

Esmeralda smiled as she reminisced, "It's a lovely city. The architecture is sight for anyone to behold. Some buildings are literal pieces of art. There's the beautiful Seine rive that flows through the center of town and every summer we have festivals so grand, even the public officials have a good time... What about Nibelheim? What's it like?"

"It... It burned to the ground," Tifa replied. She kept her back to Esmeralda and focused on the dirty dishes in front of her. She didn't like to talk about home.

Esmeralda looked over at Tifa in sympathy, "I'm sorry to hear that. Paris was almost burned to the ground as well, but luckily the city was able to recover... I have a feeling it might not have been so for your home?"

Tifa's lips pressed into a thin line. "No. It wasn't." she confirmed. Nibelheim did not recover from what happened to it.

Esmeralda studied her, now empty, glass, "You don't have to talk about it, if it's too painful. Sorry, I didn't mean to pry."

"It's not your fault. You didn't know," Tifa replied quietly. She focused on cleaning the glass in her hand before she turned to face Esmeralda. "And do you like it here?"

Esmeralda looked up with a soft grin, "Yeah, I do. I've met a beautiful woman here that I never would have otherwise, and there doesn't appear to be as much blatant racism and sexism in comparison to where I'm from."

"See? There's silver lining to everything." Tifa said. "I take it you wouldn't have met that woman if you hadn't come here, right?"

Esmeralda smiled, "No, I most certainly would not have. She's a soldier, so even if she had existed in my world, we would have most likely been enemies. Of course, we didn't really have women soldiers either, so maybe not."

"Hmm.., so you're from different times? Did you fall through a portal too?" Tifa wondered.

Esmeralda looked up at her in complete confusion, "Sorry, did I what?"

"A door? Did you leave Paris through a door and wind up here?" Tifa inquired
((Sorry. My phone auto corrected.))
