Esmeralda grinned over at Lonnie as she sprinted to the fire station, "Okay, I promise you. We do this together." She panted as they finally reached the doors and slammed them shut behind Lonnie.

Lonnie smiled and took a deep breath, resting her back on the closed doors "Okay" she said finally "We have to check this place out, make sure none of those creatures are hiding in here" she took Esmeralda by the hand and smiled at her "We will do it as a team. We can look for weapons while we search!"

Esmeralda grinned back at her and squeezed her hand gently, "Sorry about earlier. I just... didn't want there to be chance of you getting injured." She looked down and blushed slightly, hoping Lonnie would merely think her cheeks were flushed from running, "You're... really important to me."

Lonnie's smile softened and she used her free hand to cup Esmeralda's cheek, pulling her face gently to face her own "It is okay, I understand. You mean a lot to me too, that is why I can't let you do this alone."

Esmeralda grinned and softly brushed her lips against Lonnie's, "Alright then... But just know, that if you get injured, I'm not having sex with you until you heal completely as punishment for not protecting yourself properly, understood?" She teased as she kissed Lonnie's cheek affectionately.

Lonnie smirked and said "Oh really? alright then, fair is fair I suppose. Let's see if you can keep your own rule" she winked and kissed Esmeralda once more before walking with her hand in hand to the room next to them, getting her knife out, just in case.

Esmeralda strengthened her grip on her own knife and slowly opened the door, peeking inside. Seeing nothing dead moving, she walked further into the room with Lonnie to look for anything they could use, "Do you think we'll be able to find anything to eat in here, like maybe in the break room or something?"

"I am not sure..." Lonnie replied quietly as she released Esmeralda's hand. She was taking the left side of the room and Esmeralda was taking the right "It depends on how looted the place is I guess. We should definitely be able to find some weapons but I don't know about- ah!" Lonnie was cut off by her own small scream "Oh my god. That's gnarly" she said, raising a hand to her nose. There in front of her was a dead man, an ACTUALLY dead man, in a firefighters uniform. The man seemed to be dead for awhile, at least a few weeks, and was holding a sturdy looking axe. "Shit... I- I found a weapon!" she said to Esmeralda across the room "But I am not liking the idea of what I will have to do to get it.." she shuddered

Esmeralda immediately turned at Lonnie's outcry with her knife raised ready to eliminate any threat, before she saw why Lonnie had cried out. She grimaced before slowly approaching the corpse, "My god that smells awful." She examined the firefighter's body before gently reaching out her foot to see if she could pry the axe away without having to touch the man's corpse. She winced as her foot touched the dead man's chest but drew in a deep breath to steady herself and gripped Lonnie's shoulder for balance. She got her toes under the handle and pulled outward, watching in mixed delight and horror as the axe fell forward, but revealed the maggots that had been squirming underneath.

Lonnie turned her face away quickly and held her stomach "ugh gross" she said, feeling as if she was going to throw up "But hey... at least we have a longer ranged weapon.. right?" she said as she feigned a smile for Esmeralda.

Esmeralda gave her an equally forced laugh, "Yeah... right." She jerked the axe further away from the body with her foot before looking around, "You don't suppose there's alcohol or cleaner or something we could use to clean it off do you?"

"I.... I don't know... There might be some sanitizer or something in the bathroom over there" Lonnie pointed over to the small room she had noticed just down the hall "we could check there next!" she said looking back to Esmeralda.

Esmeralda nods, "Good idea... I think I'll need to wash my foot off with acid before I can ever go back to sleep though." She heads over to the bathroom and doesn't see anything living or dead, which was a nice relief.

Lonnie laughs internally as she seems Esmeralda look over the bathrooms container of hand sanitizer, realizing that she probably has no idea what hand sanitizer is. She picked up the small half empty container and brought it over to Esmeralda "I believe this will help solve your problem" she smiled "this is like like soap, but quicker. It is probably a good idea to keep it just in case but for now, use a little to clean off your foot" she said, smiling.

Esmeralda looked down in slight confusion at the bottle in front of her, it looked nothing like anything she'd ever seen before, "Is this like alcohol?" she asked as she couldn't read the writing on it and it appeared to be more liquid than solid.
